Day Trip to Paris

Earlier this week I spent the day in Paris to celebrate my friend Ammarah's birthday- And let me tell you there's nothing more enchanting than a days getaway to a neighbouring country. There's definitely worse things to do on a Tuesday. From a handsome smirking stranger eavesdropping on our conversation about the male anatomy on the Eurostar to tranquil and unflappable views of the Eiffel Tower on the steps of the Trocadero. The thousands of engraved love stories on the Love Lock Bridge to circling the jubilance of the Louvre and Arc de Triomphe to ending the city's experience with sexual electricity hovering in the air circumferencing the Moulin Rouge. A day is not enough to fascinate your inner romanticism with Paris. Plus there's nothing quite like that fatigued nostalgia that hits you once you pull back into rainy St Pancras International, stamped with tired eyes and unable to move due to the events of the day. I needed that day to clear my head, pull myself back together and appreciate the context of living in the moment, resulting in the photographic moments and memories captured by the snap of a camera. Enjoy :)

Taylor Momsen in The Pretty Reckless

The Pretty Reckless, Going to Hell Album
Taylor Momsen's album art
I for one am somebody who didn't mind Taylor Momsen's transformation from girl next door, Jenny Humphries to a gothic rock vixen. Many found the change out of the blue and intimidating but I was intrigued- And now I am head over heels in love! Even though I thought she was a talented actress, it's obvious that her passion lies within music. Her band 'The Pretty Reckless' in particular is a hard rock band which features other members- Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins. With their incredible bold instruments and her gritty rebellious lyrics, their music resonates within me shamelessly. 'Going To Hell' has got to be one of my favourite songs in a long time- obviously on repeat everyday! It's almost a breathe of fresh air over having Miley Cyrus and Rihanna commercially shoved down my throat (even though I do enjoy their music).

The namesake album has been unveiled with some sexy artwork on it, mainly Taylor herself sporting only a combination cross and downwards sign on her back- And that's the beauty of Taylor, she isn't afraid to flaunt being comfortable in her body. Due to the soaring success of their music and demands by their fans, The Pretty Reckless have even launched a European tour stopping at London's Wembley Arena on March 20th and the Electric Ballroom on March 24th. Click here for tickets. The Going to Hell album will drop 18th March. The following songs are featured on the album-

01. Follow Me Down

02. Going To Hell
03. Heaven Knows
04. House on a Hill
05. Sweet Things
06. Dear Sister
07. Absolution
08. Blame Me
09. Burn
10. Why'd You Bring A Shotgun To The Party
11. Fucked Up World
12. Waiting For A Friend
13. Going To Hell (live acoustic) *
14. Sweet Things (acoustic) *

SAGS 2014 Best Dressed

So award season is in full swing and this past week the sunny city of Los Angeles paved way for the SAG Awards. Before we head on to the incredible fashion, let me take a minute to say a huge congratulations to the stars of Breaking Bad, American Hustle and Dallas Buyers Club for being the top winners of the night. This was coupled with an endearing speech by Lupita Nyong'o who won 'best female actor in a supporting role' for 12 Years A Slave! Well done. Moving on, below I present to you my favourite looks of the night. After Jennifer Lawrence's 'tampon' disaster at the Golden Globes she redeemed herself with a studio 54-esque sparkly gown from none other than Dior. Somebody who I thought was overlooked was New Girl star Hannah Simone, who kept it whimsical and feminine in her Marchesa dress. There was also a lot of beautiful hair and make-up looks on the red-carpet but I would like to commend Games of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer for shocking everyone with her half shaven hairdo! She made it work with natural make-up and some serious ear bling! WOW!

Two other people who I have to point out are Lupita Nyong'o and Mario Lopez. Lupita is fast cementing her name as one of the best dressed women in Hollywood and this Gucci number has definitely been added to her fashion accolades! What it would be like to be Lupita Nyong'o right now?! Oh and about Mario (or my beloved AC Slater)- I can't take my eyes off him! He always looks incredibly dapper! Head over to Bergdorf Goodman to create your star worthy looks.

Golden Globes Best Dressed

First of all, I want to say a huge congratulations to 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle and Breaking Bad for being the big winners at this years Golden Globes- it's important to recognize talent which comes first and foremost every award season. Red carpet fashion is a luxury when you've achieved momentum in your capability. That being said, here I present to you my absolute favourite looks of the Golden Globes 2014! Lupita Nyong'o (who's incredible telegenic presence seems to have stemmed from nowhere) had a historic fashion moment with a red cape-style Ralph Lauren gown, whilst Sofia Vergara showed off her bubbly personality in a black Zac Posen ball gown. Even though Amber Heard donned a sexy leg split in her royal blue Versace gown, the main attraction was her hair and make-up- 60's movie siren or what?

On another note, I want to commend other red carpet choices which weren't exactly the conventional choice for recognition. In particular I want to applaud the attitude behind these choices. Lena Dunham wore her canary yellow Zac Posen gown with confidence, as she joked about striking an S-shape pose on the red carpet. She's not Angelina Jolie and nor does she try to be. Another badass bitch on the red carpet was Gabourey Sidibe, who firstly let me point out is an incredible talent! She seemed at ease with herself and wasn't shy to address her critics on Twitter by stating- 'To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I mos def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night'. Preach.

Girls Is Coming Back!

The cast of GIRLS
So the wait is nearly over! The hit show 'Girls' will be returning on January 12th with a double bill! Excited is an understatement. I can't wait for Hannah and Co to grace themselves on my screen and let me know that I'm not the only one making all the mistakes I make. The first 2 seasons was such a eye-opener into the world of realistic femininity, sexual expression and career ambition. The amount of relatable moments rounded up in the bucketful's- something other fictional comedy series falter upon. So before we get more answers to our life problems- here's a look back at some of the most endearingly honest quotes from undoubtedly the most quotable show on television. Long live Lena Dunham!

I'm attracted to everyone when I first meet them
Truth. I try to see the positive in everyone. I'll talk to you. I'll admire your unique characteristics that no one else does. And I'll let you know a lot of weird facts about myself. Even if you don't care!
I can't be surrounded by your negativity while I'm trying to grow into a fully formed woman. You hate everything!
Constant perky upbeat people annoy me. Yet sometimes, when your emotions and self-wellbeing aren't in check you need someone around you who is slightly ahead in the happiness scale. It's always a bit weird when people are more negative than I am.

So you really don't want to date me? Last chance.
I have actually used this exact line before. No joke. No regrets.

I've just been having a little trouble with my mental state these days
Am I the only one who thinks the way I think? Is it normal to have these thoughts? I wonder what people would think if they heard me thinking. I need to stop thinking.

I guess it's classic to have to masturbate 8-16 times a night until your legs shake and you're crying and you're trying to make sure your parents didn't hear you so you check their door 8 times
Don't even pretend like you don't.

C'mon you're not anorexic, that's ridiculous. I've seen you in a bathing suit
Once I had to act out a scene in which I had an eating disorder in class. I was explaining to a classmate on the bus that I was going to play an anorexic person. She misunderstood and thought I was telling the truth. I corrected her and said it was only for the re-enactment. Her response? 'Oh I was gonna say- you're hardly anorexic are you? Jeez'.
I've been dating someone who treats my heart like monkey meat
I could probably write a bestselling book about this. I wouldn't call myself a hopeless romantic at all (I wouldn't know what to do if someone gave me flowers)- but a hopeless 'attracting a pointless human being'-er.

Let's have the type of night where it's 5 am and one of us has definitely punched someone who's been on a Disney channel show
I'm a go big or go home type of girl when it comes to my nights out. I literally took it to another level at university. Bouncers knew my name and not in a good way. Mortifying during sober times, but still no regrets now.
Any mean thing that someone's gonna think of to say about me, I've already said to me, about me, probably in the last half hour!
Disappointingly we're our own worst critic. Hannah hit the nail on the head with this! Stems from insecurity at its finest.
It's like my worst nightmare a kid, being the last one to be picked up from like school or some social event
I was always that kid. ALWAYS. There was no part of my childhood which was remotely cool.

I didn't lose my job, I gave it away
There are many explanations you can come up with- this as a twenty something will probably be the best one. Utilise it well.

The London Skyline

Dubai may have set a world record with the largest fireworks display in the world as the New Year rung in, but there was something special about our London display too. The explosive multi-sensory feast lit up the London skyline and catapulted my stimulation for my city once again. And I'm not the only one-check out my favourite display of London nationalism I uncovered after trawling the web. Stockings and cello-tape now please!
