amfAR Gala (Aids Research Foundation) Best Looks

The looks at the amfAR Gala (Aids Research Foundation) were incredible. Oscar looks it isn't, but the likes of Miley Cyrus and Rihanna definitely made a show-stopping appearance. Brave and bold always does it for me and Rihanna most definitely matched her carefree persona by spending $135,000 on the auction portion of the event. That was before she took to the stage to praise and award Tom Ford with his Inspiration Award. All in all, seems like it was an extremely fashionable night!

Curvy Celebrities Taking a Stand Against Body Image

Young girls and grown women alike are constantly drowned with the societal pressure to look a certain way. Happiness and sex appeal aren't defined by a constructed idea of beauty but a certain sense of brick thick confidence. However, there are celebrities out there who are naturally 'thin', yet are tormented on social media for promoting eating disorders amongst the impressionable young. Sounds ridiculous, I know. And on the contrary, there are those women who set out to show off there more fulfilled silhouette and are criticised for 'letting themselves go'. We might never win the fight against the pressure to look 'standardised' but the following curvaceous beauties don't really care. Read what they have to say about their unapologetic bodies. Preach.

KATE UPTON- My curves are natural. They're not going away no matter how hard I try.
KAT DENNINGS- I tried being anorexic for four hours but then I was like, I need some bagels.
CHRISTINA HENDRICKS- Back when I was modelling, the first time I went to Italy, I was having cappuccinos every day and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous!

MARIAH CAREY- When I get up, I don't have breakfast. Just a slice of pizza.
KIM KARDASHIAN- For me, skinny is just a style of jeans not a goal.
QUEEN LATIFAH- I was not born a size 2. I'm not skinny, period.

NICKI MINAJ- Only time you on the net is when you google my ass.
SALMA HAYEK- If I go on a diet and workout, I'm always in a bad mood. I'd rather be a little heavier and nice.
KELLY CLARKSON- I love my body.

Spikes - Edgiest Fashion Accessory

If the late Oscar de la Renta taught us anything, it was that style is a personal thing. There's no need to follow trends that parallels someone's elitist views on the fashion industry or even to conform to the already tough society standards. For me, there's something beautiful in dirt. There's something peaceful about the darkness. And there's something soft and supple about spikes. Maybe not an everyday accessory of choice, but a god damn expressive accessory nonetheless. Also it's more prevalent in our mood-boards of societal influence than you think.

Oscar De La Renta Has Sadly Passed Away

Oscar De La Renta at his Spring 2015 collection
with Karlie Kloss and Daria Strokous
There's only a handful of legendary designers who are celebrated on a monumental scale worldwide- And one of them was Oscar de la Renta. A sophisticated pioneer in championing women's beauty, whether it be in the form of inner confidence or an outer spectacle of dressing for the deep-rotted glamour every touch of femininity harbours, this man had a gift. His family confirmed that Oscar died at the age of 82 after battling cancer, and as a result has left a trail of obliteration in the form of grieving celebrities, societal figures, politicians, supermodels he once dressed- alongside the die-hard fashion fans who studied his craft over the years. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, he started off as an apprentice before starting his own ready-to-wear label in 1965. Soon thereafter he went on to dress influential figures such as Princess Diana, Oprah and Hillary Clinton just to name a minuscule few. His most recent and high profile success came in the form of dressing the powerfully gorgeous Amal Alamuddin (Now Clooney) with whom he was pictured with at her dress fitting. Another heightened pop culture reference to his tremendous talents lay throughout the Sex in the City television series where Carrie Bradshaw compared his designs to that of poetry. Lastly, he preached without breaking a sweat that his main design goals was about style-' I want to make clothes that people will wear, not styles that will make a big splash on the runway. Fashion is about dressing to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself'.

Best Dressed At The Attitude Awards

Congratulations to the winners at the Attitude Awards this year. It was nice to see such a heightened celebration of the LGBT community in terms of popular media.  Those honoured were the likes of Conchita Wurst, Sharon Stone, Tom Daley and Ella Henderson. As per usual there was a gorgeous display of fashion with the neutral colours dominating the red carpet. Tulisa made a beauty comeback in particular, which was nice to see. Check out my favourite looks below!

Paris Fashion Week 2014

Fashion season came to a monumental end in Paris celebrating the peak of apparel success. Even though they work a season in advance, black is the only colour that radiates an eternal warmth to me all year round. Bold colours come and go, yet I can't seem to shake off the beauty with black. This fashion week the only images that had me gawking in awe was those particular models clad all in black. Have a look at my favourite dark moments below.
