Thanks for your good wishes! I'm fine!- Madonna

Celebrity antics made the Brits 2015 trend worldwide last night. No one can stop talking about Madonna falling down the stairs backwards but then educating us on the saying 'the show must go on'. Kudos to her. Kanye West once again managed to nab headlines by a controversially-fuelled performance and was beeped out (!). It was all of course supported by his famous other half, Kim Kardashian. Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith were the popular winners of the nights rounding up the gongs. The Brits however is a platform where people can have more fun with their fashion- which a lot of people did seen below!

'Lean In' by Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg

'There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women'- Sheryl Sandberg

It was when I saw Sheryl Sandberg on Oprah's Next Chapter that I realised her book 'Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Live' was a must-read. That was back in 2013 and now two years later I finally managed to grab a hold of her book (a special graduate edition), read it and cemented it with pride status on my over-flowing bookshelf. The Silicon Valley based COO of Facebook describes in extraordinary detail in her best-selling book about the present day rigours of women in the workplace. She, along with many established guest writers, present us readers with many situation where women are discriminated against due to a set of boobs, make-up and a whiff of perfume. Whilst, I'm based in the creative media sector where I see many women leading the pack- the book gives invaluable advice and has enabled me to open my eyes wide open in terms of confidence, feeling like a 'fraud' and not being afraid to ask. It's pretty simple- if you don't ask you don't get. What will inevitably set me apart in my long-term career is a lack of fear- And by all means she provides a well written book that challenges you to how you view yourself in the workplace. By all means, there were plenty of high-light worthy quotes throughout the book. Check out some of my favourites below!

For more information visit Lean In

 1) “What would you do if you weren't afraid?”

2) “When looking for a life partner, my advice to women is date all of them: the bad boys, the cool boys, the commitment-phobic boys, the crazy boys. But do not marry them. "

3) “I hope you find true meaning, contentment, and passion in your life. I hope you navigate the difficult times and come out with greater strength and resolve. I hope you find whatever balance you seek with your eyes wide open. And I hope that you - yes, you - have the ambition to lean in to your career and run the world. Because the world needs you to change it.”

 4) “If you ask men why they did a good job, they’ll say, ‘I’m awesome. Obviously. Why are you even asking?’ If you ask women why they did a good job, what they’ll say is someone helped them, they got lucky, they worked really hard.” We’re gonna start taking all the credit. Starting… now! Yup, we’re awesome. Obviously!"

5) “I want to tell any young girl out there who’s a geek, I was a really serious geek in high school. It works out. Study harder.” We can remember nobody wanting to sit with the geeks during lunch in high school, but now everybody wants to either be a geek or be married to one so, yeah, we agree with this one."
6) “We call our little girls bossy. Go to a playground; little girls get called bossy all the time—a word that’s almost never used for boys—and that leads directly to the problems women face in the workforce.”

7) “If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, you don’t ask what seat. You just get on.”

8) “At a small dinner with other business executives, the guest of honor spoke the entire time without taking a breath. This meant that the only way to ask a question or make an observation was to interrupt. Three or four men jumped in, and the guest politely answered their questions before resuming his lecture. At one point, I tried to add something to the conversation and he barked, "Let me finish! You people are not good at listening!"

9) “Anyone lucky enough to have options should keep them open. Don't enter the workforce already looking for the exit. Don't put on the breaks. Accelerate."

10) “When Gloria Steinem marched in the streets to fight for the opportunities that so many of us now take for granted, she quoted Susan B. Anthony, who marched in the streets before her and concluded, “Our job is not to make young women grateful. It is to make them ungrateful so they keep going.”

Oscars 2015 Best Dressed

The 87th Annual Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night and of course it was a star studded affair of the ridiculously talented and the supremely beautiful. Eddie Redmaye, our Brit boy done good, completed his award show domination by winning Best Actor for The Theory of Everything. His reaction was understandably pure bewilderment, which as a person who's paid his dues is completely endearing. Julianne Moore also picked up the honours of the Best Actress award for Still Alice- and I'm going to use this moment to bow-down to what an incredible woman she is. The film & television industry is by no means a male-dominated industry! In terms of films, Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel won four Oscars each and Lady Gaga even managed to fit in a performance. The Oscars of course are the absolute dream. To win an award is succumbing to the elite hall of fame- And of course you have to dress the part. Check out my favourites below.

A/W 2015 Celebration of Fashion

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York once again proved to be a star-studded affair with the likes of Kimye, Gigi Hadid, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and more taking to the frows to witness a spectacular A/W 2015 celebration of fashion. I'm the first to admit that I'm not a hardcore follower of high end couture, but to the simple womanly uneducated eye, I can more than appreciate talent when I see it. There were some stand-out collections such as Oscar De La Renta, Rodarte and Naeem Khan, but others put up a tough fight in their love for design and intricacy. Check out a few of my favourite looks below!

Cosmopolitan Magazine Lingerie Fashion Show

It's so nice to be under a roof where women celebrate one another and encourage sexuality in the form of lingerie. Cosmopolitan held an incredible lingerie fashion show at the gorgeous Bloomsbury Ballroom where brands such as Freya, Very.co.uk, Wonderbra, Coco De Mer displayed their designs. Due to the 50 Shades of Grey hype, the film's theme was dominant (literally). Surf were the sponsors and had fun with the Flirty Shades of Surf message (Apparently for a woman nothing turns her on more than a man who does her laundry). Two handsome topless men armed with roses were there to prove so. Hair and make-up stalls were on display to glamify us attendees and an array of gorgeous cocktails were flowing all night. The lingerie fashion show in itself was an extravagant affair of beautiful models seductively walking down the runway. I had a little chat with them when I left as I saw them outside (off out for a well deserved night on the town) and they were lovely girls who truly enjoyed the experience. The charity Coppafeel were also on hand to highlight the important of checking your boobs for the all dreaded sign of breast cancer. They also encouraged everyone to write messages of support to their own boobs and hang it up. Cute! All in all it was a succesfull and encouraging event which I look forward to attending next year.

Fifty Shades of Grey Premiere

Hate or love the book, the Fifty Shades of Grey premier was probably one of the most eagerly anticipated of the year. The stars of the film braced the cold London weather to promote the 'mummy porn' book trilogy made popular by author E.L.James. Reviews have already rolled in and have criticised the film for lacking the one thing it was meant to deliver- sex. Doesn't seem like the majority of the reviews will favour the stars but in the meantime let them enjoy the limelight.

THE FIFTY SHADES OF GREY GANG- JAMIE DORNAN & WIFE AMELIA WARNER, DAKOTA JOHNSON, SAM TAYLOR-JOHNSON & HUSBAND AARON JOHNSON & E.L. JAMES

Grammys 2015 Best Dressed

After some under-whelmingly British fashion at the BAFTAs last night, I'm pleased to say that Hollywood didn't disappoint! The attendees at the Grammys 2015 brought their A-Game. I saw risk takers, fashion initiatives maxed out and whole host of gorgeous beauty looks. Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic (my fav red carpet team) did a fantastic job of interviewing the fashion savvy. The show in itself was a jam packed affair with Kanye raising a few eyebrows due to a repeat on-stage offence. All in all, I'm glad that everybody used this award show to glam out to the best of their abilities. What are award shows for after all? For the full set of winners click here.

BAFTAs 2015 Best Dressed

The BAFTAs is the British film and television event of the year. A massive congratulations to everyone who walked away with a gong last night- there was so much talent this year! Fashion ofcourse was etched everywhere but I do have to say that in comparison to other award shows that have taken place this year, the 'best dressed' was a little underwhelming this year. This may be due to the British simple aesthetic, the cold weather or the lack of risk taking initiative. Nonetheless, there were a few that stood out from the pack with their choices. Also, the best accessory at the BAFTAs seemed to be having another half- the couples looked gorgeous and in-sync. Let me present to you the best dressed of the BAFTAs 2015!

BRITISH ROYALTY- Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter
THE YOUNG HOTTIES- Sam Claflin and Laura Haddock
THE NEW GENERATION- Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe

THE HOLLYWOOD TRAILBLAZER- Julianne Moore
THE EUROPEAN STUNNER- Lea Seydoux
THE BOMBSHELL- Monica Bellucci

#FreeTheNipple Campaign

"So many of our heroes solve problems by killing and violence. We need new heroes"- Free The Nipple

Instagram has made many enemies. Mainly due to the hindrance of female censorship across this widely used media platform. In society alone the female body is subjected to fines and prison time for walking around topless. The issue of breast-feeding in public is also extremely controversial and subjected to the voices of many debates- which is also outrageous. Due to the severe annoyance of this issue, the #FREETHENIPPLE campaign was born which works towards changing these ridiculous laws through social media, film and campaigning. The movement has even birthed a movie for which you can view the trailer right here. The campaign makes some good points though- why is violence and killing glorified when public acts of nudity is considered 'criminal'? It's great to see many celebrities supporting this movement and as a result have come forward to bare their beautiful bodies and voices to stand up for what they believe in. Nipples- everyone has them, so what's the big deal?
