Fashion Designers to Watch in 2016

'I have always been surrounded by smart, classic, and powerful women, and I have always enjoyed seeing them at their most beautiful. The collection is inspired by those women.'- Brandon Maxwell
Fashion is a difficult business. The interning, the long hours, the showing your worth when every door gets repeatedly slammed in your face. It takes a certain kind of focus and chic charisma to breakthrough and with more bold celebrities looking to be 'different', the demand for new upcoming designers is everything. Fashion is something so expressive yet personal that celebrities are more than ready to endorse those designers they think would cut it long term in the industry. Take for example, Brandon Maxwell. Not disregarding his extraordinary work history as a second hand to Nicola Formichetti (remember Gaga's meat dress?) he then went on to be Lady Gaga's personal stylist herself, dressing her in the likes of Valentino and Roberto Cavalli. He is now more than ready for his own success with his ready-to-wear collection.

Christmas Red Carpet Inspiration from 2015

'Jingle in the rain.'- Sofia Vergara
The red carpet was slayed this year. There were different trends, designers and colours that reigned supreme. So much was the red carpet fierceness, that the following celebrities provided incredible Chrismas inspiration. The reds, the blues, the greens...just like your very own personal Christmas tree. And trust me, outfits like the following are easy to recreate from high street companies such as New Look, Miss.Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins & Topshop. You are literally spolit for choice!

Hottest Celebrity Romances of 2015

'If I found someone who would never try to change me, that would be the only person I could fall in love with.'- Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift Calvin Harris
There have been some high profile break-ups in Hollywood this year. Think Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck/Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green/Zayn Malik & Perrie Edwards etc. But fear not- this isn't an article on what went wrong in LA LA Land this year but what went right. There were many beautiful and surprising relationships which blossomed- some that stemmed from years of friendship and others which were a result of spontaneous yet strong, instant attraction. Hollywood and the business in general is tough. Tough to stay with someone for a long amount of time. Factors such as hectic work schedules, intense media speculations and crazed fans are enough to put the normal person over the edge, but for celebrities, even a glossy coat of 'thick skin' can't stand the heat sometimes. But with each new romance- there's new hope for all of us, that under all the mayhem associated with the chronicled elite, they're just like me and you.

Eastern Eye's 50 Sexiest Asian Women List

'A piece of advice to the ladies – it’s all in the mind. Remember, sexy is as sexy does.' Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra
I grew up immersed in Bollywood. As a child I felt like I could relate to only those who looked like me. One boy in primary school talked about his love for a just-starting-out Charlize Theron. A blonde haired, green eyed goddess. Other boys had similar crushes and other girls had similar looking role-models. Disregarding the fact that I'm Pakistani, the women in the Indian film and television industry turned into my childhood muses. I would be baffled by the insane beauty of Aishwarya Rai and melted at the charm of Shah Rukh Khan. Nowadays, my palette and definition of a 'muse' has changed. Skin colour is no longer an issue because I have had enough life experience and years behind me to understand that the colour of my skin doesn't define me. Along with the present day phenomenon of Quantico's Pryanka Chopra, my role models include the likes of Rooney Mara, Elizabeth Olsen, Viola Davis and Vera Farmiga.

SAG Awards 2016 Nominations & Predictions

'Thank you SAG Awards for recognizing the cast of OITNB & myself with this nomination. Means so much to us to tell this story'- Uzo Aduba
 Uzo Aduba
Wow. What a year for film and television. It has allowed Hollywood's lucrative award season to be spoilt for choice. Hot on the tails of the Golden Globes, The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have released their nominations which will culminate on January 30th next year. This is the award ceremony that actors like best because its voted for by their peers. Ah friends! They'll always have your back! Looking at the list, there were some surprises in the form of Empire and Fargo not racking up a single nomination each. There are of course some obvious favourites such as Game of Thrones and Homeland which have returned for another year to dominate the nominations list. Standouts include Viola Davis's nomination for How to Get Away With Murder *Please Win* and the cast of Orange Is The New Black who boosted the popularity of Netflix. Needless to say, a huge congratulations to the nominees and may the best man/woman/ensemble win!

Best TV & Film Female Fight Scenes

'Always protect myself.'- Maggie Fitzgerald (Million Dollar Baby)
In all honesty, when I see two beefed up, ridiculously attractive men sparring it out with their heavy handed punches on-screen, I zone out. But when women fight it out, there's a certain sense of dominance which is so bad-ass, it has me on the edge of my seat. And no, this isn't about the pleasures associated with two women in bikinis wrestling in a mud-pit! There is more to this than that kind of sexism. Historically, of course men have dominated the body combat sector of Hollywood, yet the influx of women asserting their physical authority on-screen began rising in the 60's and 70's. Nowadays, it seems as if an actress hasn't fully lived in all her talented glory, if she hasn't engaged in a fight scene (and not used a body double!). Everyone from Angelina Jolie to Michelle Rodriguez have raked in monumental success at the box-office with their power and surpassed the independent expectation of women in film and television. Even Bollywood over the years isn't scared of throwing their actresses into the physical arena- an industry which was once (and still sort of is) threateningly dominated by male ego.

Celebrity Fashion Campaigns of 2015

'It is such a big deal to be acknowledged by Dior. It means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, elegant, and timeless.'- Rihanna
Rihanna Dior
The nineties were no doubt the era of the supermodels. It was the time when Cindy Crawford graced countless magazine covers long before knowing her dead-ringer daughter Kaia Gerber would follow in hot pursuit of her career. It was time when Tyra Banks made waves as the first black model on the cover of Sports Illustrated. It was also the time when Linda Evangelista muttered the infamous words, 'I don't get out of bed for less than $100,000 a day.'  Legend.

Fast forward to 2015, an elite batch of supermodels do still reign supreme, but their workload is lightened by the usage of celebrities in fashion campaigns. Brands such as Marc Jacobs, Dior and Roberto Cavalli want to induce more personality into their campaigns, they want someone the public are familiar with. Who better to fit the above Dior brief than Rihanna? Celebrities are ruling the fashion industry and I no doubt disregard the culture of the 'supermodel' but until we hit the nineties trend of championing them above all else again, then the following celebrities are doing just fine representing these fashion brands.

Trek America Travels: Road Trip Movies

'You said you and me was gonna get outta town and, for once, just really let our hair down. Well, darlin', look out, 'cause my hair is comin' down!'- Thelma Dickinson
Thelma & Louise
This time next week I'll be in America. I'll jet off on my own and then travel with a bunch of strangers through the company Trek America from Los Angeles to New York. I (hope) I'll be sleeping under the stars at Death Valley National Park, endorse gluttony with New Orleans' beignets and immerse myself in American history and culture in Washington, DC. I'll be spending Christmas Day, my 26th birthday and New Years Stateside and I am nervously peeing my pants in sweaty excitement. Truth be told, I've been planning this trip for years. Trek America as a company make it so easy to set off on the road and indulge in the 'American Dream' which my childhood travel fantasies have centered around. I am intrigued at the different terrains, views, beliefs, people across the US- the diversity, the notoriety, the exaggeration. I want to visit every confined small town as well as the glittering lights of glossy cities such as LA and Vegas. I want it all. The following three weeks will give me a slice of that as I travel cross country on the Southerner tour. And trust me, I already know I'll have hopes of returning super soon for a longer slice of heaven. Next time, - me, a fearless friend and a car #TheDream.

'Do your squats, eat your vegetables, wear red lipstick, don't let boys be mean to you.'- Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner Instagram
Instagram is a powerhouse. The picture sharing platform has amassed millions of users who upload stills of their very best and look at the elite for inspiration- And now the top ten Instagram pictures where those pockets of inspiration have been sourced has been revealed. Needless to say, there are a mere handful of people who keep popping up and it's none other than Kendall Jenner who's nabbed the top spot with her gorgeous hair pictorial and beauty- outdoing Kim and Kanye's wedding picture from last year. The photo has garnered 3.2million likes and is now a popular media cult beauty image. In terms of the rest of the list, it's Taylor Swift who dominates along with some familiar faces along the way. It's also interesting to note that everyone on the list are women. #GirlPower

2015's Breakthrough Acting Talent

'You can’t create something alone. You need people to support you.'- Adam Driver
adam driver girls
2015 has been an incredible year for us to note down new acting talent. There are those who have been slowly working up the ranks on new projects, others whose sheer understanding of the acting craft has propelled them to the forefront and others who are just now getting the recognition they deserve.

Truth be told, anyone can act. But to be an actor, you need a true appreciation of the art form, a detailed understanding of the techniques used, a lack of fear of looking 'stupid' or 'wearing your heart on your sleeve'. There are millions out there who look to hit it big, but the following names on my list are those you may be whole-heartedly familiar with this year due to their hustle or should probably know about due to their excellent work in small indie films.
