Trek America Travels: Road Trip Movies

'You said you and me was gonna get outta town and, for once, just really let our hair down. Well, darlin', look out, 'cause my hair is comin' down!'- Thelma Dickinson
Thelma & Louise
This time next week I'll be in America. I'll jet off on my own and then travel with a bunch of strangers through the company Trek America from Los Angeles to New York. I (hope) I'll be sleeping under the stars at Death Valley National Park, endorse gluttony with New Orleans' beignets and immerse myself in American history and culture in Washington, DC. I'll be spending Christmas Day, my 26th birthday and New Years Stateside and I am nervously peeing my pants in sweaty excitement. Truth be told, I've been planning this trip for years. Trek America as a company make it so easy to set off on the road and indulge in the 'American Dream' which my childhood travel fantasies have centered around. I am intrigued at the different terrains, views, beliefs, people across the US- the diversity, the notoriety, the exaggeration. I want to visit every confined small town as well as the glittering lights of glossy cities such as LA and Vegas. I want it all. The following three weeks will give me a slice of that as I travel cross country on the Southerner tour. And trust me, I already know I'll have hopes of returning super soon for a longer slice of heaven. Next time, - me, a fearless friend and a car #TheDream.

Needless to say, the great American Road-trip has long been depicted in Hollywood in the form of stunning cinematography and youthful brazen story lines. It's a fail safe which lays the foundation to any writer and director's vision. Thelma & Louise was one of those visions back in 1991 with Geena Davis and Susan Surandon, which is now a cult hit. A must-watch. Along the way and across the most picturesque locations, we've enjoyed a variety of story-telling- from real life murder sprees to laugh out loud comedies to coming of age dramas.

Enjoy my selection of America's finest.
