#TheDollEvolves: Barbie's Real Life Celebrity Counterparts

'I will always love Barbie, no matter her size.'- Ken
Barbie was my life growing up. I would forgo playing outside with other girls my age and mould Barbie's life, love and passions. It was ironic that as a young girl I was mapping out the life of a beautiful doll that that was classed as an 'adult'- unknowingly having a huge effect on the life I thought I would one day have for myself. Money, beautiful clothes, a gorgeous man, flashy car...and blonde hair? To be honest at that age, I never thought that much about it. As an awkward South Asian child growing up in England, I somehow felt used to it. I saw the pretty blonde girls getting the 'oh my god she's so pretty' from the mums at school, they would get picked first for everything, they were more endearing, more beautiful, more likely to get away with trouble. And looking back, that was obviously depicted in mass culture favourites, especially in my then age range. Now, it may be a movement some may consider 'late' to introduce a varying set of Barbie dolls in shape, ethnicity and personal flair- But I think it's better late than never.

Barbie will always be such a personal influential depiction in society. I decided to celebrate the release of the new dolls by modelling them on real life beauties in the media. Enjoy!

Donald Trump: These Are The Muslim Women You Want To Ban?!

'People are always kind of shocked when we tell them we’re from there. But it’s cool, I think it brings something new that people might not have expected.'- Yasmine Yousaf
The fact that the USA may have Donald Trump running the country is seriously horrifying. And creepy. And insane. Surely, the role of a President is to put plans into action to benefit the country and it's relations with the rest of the world- striving for equality in every manner? In a world full of such hate, despair and poverty already, do we need a deluded Bourgeoisie man telling us that to achieve a greater way of living is by segregating Americans from other races and religions? No! Donald Trump- banning Muslims from the United States is NOT the best idea you've ever had. In fact, it goes down the plethora of nonsense that has been coming from your mouth! Firstly, let me say I'm an incredibly Westernised liberal Muslim and I'm a firm believer that religion is about personal peace, faith and inner freedom. Eradicating that from the United Sates is a distaste to what the country's beliefs are about. Freedom. Let everyone, from all works of life be FREE! As an entertainment blogger, I also find it hard to witness a future America without Muslims. The US music market is full of Muslim artists who do nothing but entertain and inspire us. Also, Muslim women who've been putting up a fight for gender equality in the East will be back to square one after being shunned from the West.

Instagram Files: Interview with DeathCandy

'Burn the Witch'- Deathcandy (100K Instagram Followers)
Instagram stars are everywhere. Quick thinking individuals who understand the process of marketing themselves. They mould themselves into on-line mega brands, niche trend setters and social media #goals. In doing so they have amassed themselves a huge following- individuals lurking around for their next picture, their next quote and the next trend they'll be selling in the digital market. One of my favourite such Instagrammers is Maria from the account 'Deathcandy'. Anybody who loves the ghoulishly fearless trends of their deepest darkest alter-egos can rejoice. Maria creates the perfect haven for those who feel the need to celebrate Halloween all year around. She dons both cult and up-coming brands, endorses relevant lifestyle inspiration and is more than willing to interact with her followers. So who really is 'Deathcandy'? I had a chance to have a little chat with her. Here are her creepily curated responses...

The Bachelor: 35 Thoughts Everyone Has Whilst Watching

'You get 25 women to date and that's pretty good odds that one of those women is going to be compatible with you."
Watching 'The Bachelor' has always been my guilty pleasure. Seeing 25 stunning women battling it out for the heart of one gorgeous man, is very appealing to watch! This season in particular is a must-see for me. Ben Higgins. What a hunk. Literal goals. This man is such perfection, I wish I was on the show! Needless to say, it's amusing for me to see the drama and tension evolve and in a way it makes you feel better about yourself. Hell no, would you get drunk on the first date and make a fool of yourself! Nonetheless, being a seasoned watcher for a couple years now- below are a few little nit-picking observations I have whilst watching the show. See if you agree!

'NTAs ready!'- Michelle Keegan
After the constant Hollywood glitz and glamour it's lovely and a little refreshing to see the British industry come out in full force to celebrate our finest. The NTAs this year was held at London's 02 and featured an array of soap stars, presenters & reality television personalities. It's nice to celebrate with our home-grown talent once in a while! Below I have rounded up the best looks from this years red carpet. For me personally, Michelle Keegan stole the night!

High School Musical Reunion: The Cast Then & Now!

'It's so crazy to me that 10 years has gone by and I see this cast and feel like it was yesterday.'- Vanessa Hudgens
high school musical
Raise your hand if you joined the Wildcats from 2006 onwards. Yes my hand is up! High School Musical was my life. I was 16 years old, watching these American teens living out their American dream in a Disney movie trilogy full of romance, friendship and fun. I so desperately wanted to be part of the gang that I started googling ways to audition for the next movies once I saw the first one. (The were only hiring dancers and I have no rhythm. Also, the fact that I lived in the UK made it much more difficult). Point is, there was something so magical about the storyline, the music and the cast that made it the worldwide sensation that it was. By the time the third movie came out, I was at university and a bunch of us went and watched it in the cinema. I remember that day so clearly! It's so hard to believe that ten years have passed. The Disney Channel in the USA will be broadcasting the reunion special (Zac is missing- boo!) on the 20th January, whilst we have to wait until September.

- Hillary Swank, Best Actress, Million Dollar Baby, 2004
Guillermo del Toro, John Krasinski, Ang Lee and the Academy President Cherly Boone Isaacs finally unveiled the 88th Academy Award nomination and it's safe to say there's so much talent this year! Social media has been going crazy over the lack of ethnic representation this year, but I think we could use this time to congratulate those who have been honoured as a nominee. For the full list, see below. Who'll walk away with the gong? We'll have to see on February 28th!

Trek America: Top 10 Highlights (Part 1)

May I never wake up from the American dream- Carrie Latet

It was back in June when I decided to finally bite the bullet and book my perfect American holiday with Trek America. I have always had a love affair with the States. I grew up watching American television, reading American novels and immersing myself in American media- so much so, that I now keep my passion alive as an entertainment blogger. Being a Westerner, I was still sucked into the idea of the 'American Dream'. England has given me a lot in terms of opportunity and freedom which I most certainly would have missed out on if my parents decided to stay in my native Pakistan. But at times- it just seems so small, boring and lacklustre in comparison to over the pond. It's this obsession, that had me wanting to travel to America not just for the showstopping cities such as LA and NYC, but everything in between. Trek America was a great fit because of the cross country tours it offered ( I chose the Southerner tour), experiencing your dream with like-minded people and it's marketing which was aimed at young adventurous people like me. And omgosh I had the best time. There's so many things I could talk to you about, but we did so much, saw so much and experienced so much. Because of that I've compiled my top 10 highlights of the trip below. In the meantime- *furiously googles ways to get back to the States.*

Golden Globes Red Carpet Coverage with E! Online UK

'All red carpets lead to E!'- Sarah-Jane Crawford
E! Entertainment are leaders in their field- entertainment, celebrity and of course, the red carpet- you name it and they've got you covered! For more than ten years I have watched the likes of Sal Masekela & Debbie Matenopoulos come and go and Giuliana Rancic, Jason Kennedy and Catt Sadler mould themselves into the mega-brands they are now. They have been a source of my career goals and it is most certainly because of E! Entertainment that Spilling The Beans was born. The accompanying dream to work for an entertainment and celebrity department of a print and on-line publication stays alive.
So when I was invited by E! to attend their Golden Globes Watch-along Party at St.Martins Lane Hotel, you best believe I jumped at the chance! The swanky hotel was an exquisite reminder of the the beginning of the #ERedCarpet season and was filled with a plethora of celebrities and superfans alike. Hosts Sarah-Jane Crawford and and Union J's George Shelley were on hand to lead the celebrity action and the rest of us were set for a glamorous night indulging in the red carpet gossip.

Shoe Crush- Online Avenue's Sexy & Stylish Heels

‘I can't concentrate in flats.’ - Victoria Beckham
I sure do love a good pair of shoes- and I love them in black! So when I was ordering from Online Avenue, I decided to spice it up a bit and order a pair of heels in white. The stunning shoes were open toes with lace up details at the front with excellent support for my ankles. These were the perfect investment piece for me as I don't own that many heels and am certainly not a natural at the art of wearing heels. But these shoes screamed at me, 'who cares about comfort- look at how pretty I am!'
